Dungeon Hire Terms

These terms apply to all bookings for private hire of the Domme Claire dungeon. By completing a booking, you confirm that you have read and agree to these terms.

Booking & Hire Period

Dungeon hire is charged at R1,000 for up to 12 hours, for the date and time selected when booking.

Your booking gives you private use of the dungeon for the confirmed hire period only. Setup, packing up and cleaning required on your part must take place within your booked time.

The space must be vacated by the end of the confirmed booking period unless an extension has been agreed in advance.

Bookings may not be transferred to another person without prior agreement.

Security Deposit

A R1,000 refundable security deposit is required with every dungeon hire booking.

The deposit is separate from the hire fee and is held as security against:

  • Damage to the premises, furniture or equipment
  • Missing, lost or removed items
  • Excessive cleaning beyond the standard cleaning included with hire
  • Damage or costs resulting from misuse of the space or equipment
  • Failure to leave the space secure when departing
  • Other direct costs arising from a breach of these hire terms

The space will be checked after the booking. Provided there are no applicable deductions, the R1,000 security deposit will be refunded within 3–5 business days after inspection using the applicable payment/refund method.

If a deduction is necessary, you will be informed of the reason and amount. Where the cost of damage, loss or additional cleaning exceeds the security deposit, the person who made the booking remains responsible for the reasonable additional cost.

The security deposit remains the hirer’s money unless and until a valid deduction becomes due and should be handled accordingly. South Africa’s Consumer Protection Act also places duties on suppliers holding consumers’ deposits or other property.

Who Is Responsible for the Booking?

The person making the booking is the hirer and is responsible for:

  • The condition and appropriate use of the space during the hire period
  • Everyone they allow into the dungeon
  • Ensuring attendees comply with these terms
  • Any damage, loss or additional cleaning caused by themselves or their attendees
  • Ensuring the dungeon is secured when leaving

The dungeon comfortably accommodates up to 25 people.

Bookings involving larger groups, unusual setups or activities likely to place substantially greater demands on the space must be discussed before booking.

Access to the Dungeon

Access information will be provided to the hirer before the booking.

Where a temporary access or lockbox code is supplied, it is for the hirer and their authorised attendees only and must not be shared publicly or with anyone unrelated to the booking.

Access codes may only be used during the confirmed booking period.

The hirer is responsible for ensuring the dungeon is properly closed and secured when leaving.

Use of the Space & Equipment

Existing dungeon furniture and equipment may be used during the hire period unless specifically indicated otherwise.

Users are responsible for assessing whether they have the appropriate knowledge, experience and ability to use any equipment safely.

Equipment must:

  • Be used for its intended purpose
  • Not be permanently modified, dismantled or removed without permission
  • Be returned to its appropriate place after use
  • Be left reasonably clean and ready for inspection

If you require a particular item, configuration or facility for your booking, please confirm its availability beforehand rather than assuming it will be available or suitable.

Suspension & Higher-Risk Activities

Use of suspension equipment, the hoist and any other specialist equipment is undertaken at the users’ own discretion and should only be carried out by people with appropriate competence for the activity.

Dungeon hire does not include instruction, supervision or an assessment of a person’s competence unless this has been specifically arranged as a separate service.

The availability of equipment should not be interpreted as confirmation that a particular activity is safe or appropriate for a particular person.

Consent & Conduct

All activity taking place in the dungeon must involve consenting adults.

The hirer is responsible for the conduct of their attendees and for establishing appropriate consent, communication and safety practices for the activities they organise.

Hire of the dungeon does not make Domme Claire the organiser, facilitator or supervisor of independently run sessions, gatherings, workshops or events.

Illegal activity is not permitted on the premises.

Cleaning & Care of the Space

Standard cleaning after the booking is included in the hire fee.

Hirers are nevertheless expected to leave the dungeon in a reasonable condition. This includes:

  • Removing personal belongings
  • Disposing of rubbish in the appropriate place
  • Returning furniture and equipment to a reasonable state
  • Cleaning up significant spills or mess
  • Not leaving bodily fluids, wax, food, drink or other substances on equipment or surfaces without appropriate cleaning

Bookings requiring cleaning materially beyond normal use may incur an additional cleaning charge, which may be deducted from the security deposit where appropriate.

Personal Belongings

Please keep personal belongings secure during your booking.

Domme Claire is not responsible for personal property left behind, lost or damaged at the premises except where liability cannot lawfully be excluded.

Any items found after a booking may be retained for a reasonable period for collection.

Damage or Problems During Your Booking

If anything is damaged, broken, lost or stops functioning during your booking, please report it as soon as reasonably possible.

Prompt reporting will not automatically result in a deduction from your security deposit. It helps ensure that the issue can be assessed properly and that unsafe equipment is not used by somebody else.

Please do not attempt significant repairs or modifications yourself unless specifically asked to do so.

Cancellations & Rescheduling

You may cancel or request to reschedule an advance booking by contacting Domme Claire.

Any cancellation charge will be determined reasonably, taking into account factors including:

  • How much notice is provided
  • The nature and value of the booking
  • The likelihood of the cancelled period being booked by someone else
  • Any reasonable costs already incurred in connection with the booking

Where a cancelled booking can be replaced, this may be taken into account when determining the applicable charge.

No cancellation fee will be imposed where prohibited by applicable consumer law, including circumstances covered by section 17 of the Consumer Protection Act.

Changes or Cancellation by Domme Claire

In the unlikely event that the dungeon becomes unavailable due to an unforeseen problem, safety concern or other circumstance preventing the booking from proceeding, I will contact you as soon as reasonably possible.

Where the booking cannot proceed, you may be offered an alternative date or a refund of amounts paid for the affected booking.

Photography, Filming & Content Creation

Photography and filming for private or commercial content are permitted where they fall within the agreed use of the booking.

The hirer is responsible for obtaining appropriate permission and consent from everyone appearing in photographs, video or other recordings.

Content must not falsely suggest endorsement, involvement or participation by Domme Claire unless this has been agreed separately.

Events, Workshops & Third-Party Services

Where the dungeon is hired for an independently organised event, workshop, professional session or other service, the hirer remains responsible for organising and operating that activity.

Dungeon hire itself does not include:

  • Event management
  • Facilitation or supervision
  • Ticketing
  • Participant screening
  • Instruction
  • Insurance
  • Staff or assistants

unless specifically agreed as part of a separate arrangement.

Safety & Emergencies

The hirer is responsible for using reasonable care and judgement throughout the booking and for stopping activities where continuing would create an unreasonable risk.

Emergency exits and access routes must remain unobstructed.

Any accident, significant injury, property damage or other serious incident occurring during the booking should be reported to Domme Claire as soon as reasonably possible.

Right to Refuse or End Hire

A booking may be refused or ended where there is a reasonable concern regarding safety, unlawful activity, serious misuse of the premises, deliberate damage, material breach of these terms, or conduct that creates an unacceptable risk to people or property.

Where a booking is ended because of a serious breach by the hirer or their attendees, any refund will depend on the circumstances and applicable consumer law.

Liability

People using the dungeon remain responsible for their own choices, activities and conduct.

Nothing in these terms is intended to exclude or limit any right or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under South African law.

Acceptance of These Terms

By completing a Dungeon Hire booking, you confirm that:

  • You are at least 18 years old
  • The information supplied with your booking is accurate
  • You accept responsibility for the booking and your attendees
  • You have read and agree to these Dungeon Hire Terms
